Nobel Peace Prize to Honor Atomic Bomb Survivors

Alfred Nobel, the Swedish Chemist, inventor, and namesake of the Nobel Prize, bequeathed his legacy to establish the Nobel Prize. 

The Japanese organization, Nihon Hidankyo received the 105th Nobel Peace Prize nod for their effort to rid the world of nuclear weapons. Nihon Hidankyo represents the atomic bomb survivors. With the devastating impact of wars and the rapid development of nuclear weapons, the fear of nuclear escalation is rising. There are currently 12,000 atomic warheads recorded, according to the Swedish Research Institute for Peace. Amid these alarming realities, The nomination for the Nobel Peace Prize serves as a stark reminder of the destruction nuclear weapons can inflict on people.
