    In the wake of Donald Trump’s meeting with his counterpart, Putin, a meeting for a peace deal is slated with the EU, the UK, Finland, and France. Trump, who previously encouraged an immediate ceasefire, which aligned with Ukraine and European allies, seems to have shifted his stance towards the lasting peace deal between Russia and Ukraine, which is supported more by Russia. The European officials share concern with CNN10, Vladimir Putin still wants control of the Donbass region, which Ukraine will refuse to withdraw from. The proposed peace deal resembles NATO Article 5, where an attack on one member is considered an attack on all. Yet, this is inconclusive diplomacy. It remains unclear what this deal will actually entail, spurring questions about the “sweetener” for Ukraine as well as the “bitter pill” that President Zalinski may be forced to swallow. On Friday, Trump is set to fly Zalinski to Washington, D.C., for further discussions.
