Auto China, the biggest automobile show in China, featured 200 electric car brands. Among them, the SU7 from Xiaomi promoted its 500-mile-long battery life and a touchscreen that controls almost everything, from turning the lights on and off at home to starting a coffee machine. China’s EV market has surged over the last two years, charging up the automotive industry. While China is looking to break into the American market, Elon Musk flew to China for a geopolitical meeting with Chinese Premier Li Qiang. With the largest overseas Gigafactory in Shanghai, Musk has a significant stake in China. According to Li Qiang, China is open to foreign businesses. After the meeting, Tesla was freed from restrictions that had banned it from some sensitive areas in China. While Musk is seeking further success in China, some U.S. authorities are concerned that China might take data and send it back to Beijing.
