When we lose someone close, we feel frustrated, confused, depressed, and sad. We are deep in grief. This complex emotion can be described as "Despair." Reminiscing about the time we've spent together, we experience unfathomable frustration. But where does this feeling come from? I believe it's regret.
The difference between life and death is existence. When they are alive, they're tangible. We can spend time with them, interact with them, and talk to them. It means they are available. If we make a mistake, we still have time to make up for it. Once they are gone, there's no more chance.
When we confirm that someone has passed away, we realize they are absent forever. Following that, we accept that we also missed the chance to do better for them. Regretting every word we've spoken, every mistake we've made, we go through despair in grief over their death.
