Is the Old Generation Annoying?

You are at a fast-food restaurant, waiting in line. Somehow, people are not moving forward at all. Then you spot an elderly man struggling with the kiosk. He is trying to order something though, the fancy machine is too complicated. You can see he is frustrated. But he never asks for help. Do you feel annoyed? Why is that? Is it because he is wasting your time and not asking for help even though he can't handle it?

Let's put this situation differently. You are a hardworking, sensible, and reliable person. Your coworkers and colleagues praise you. Your family members admire you, appreciating all the milestones you've accomplished. As years go by, your body function starts deteriorating and your brain doesn't work as well as it used to. The world changes and evolves so quickly. Meanwhile, you keep getting worse. It's getting harder and harder to acquire new technology and information. You feel frustrated, miserable, and degraded. One day, you go to a fast-food restaurant you used to frequent. They only take orders via the kiosk for some reason. You try to place an order on the machine, but it keeps malfunctioning, turning off, and going to the wrong pages. You acknowledge that you can ask for help from the person behind you, but it is tough to accept that you are incapable of doing something that should be easy for others. This is not just about the kiosk, but about accepting that you can't handle things that were nothing to you when you were younger.

Sometimes, your parents disrupt you, asking for help with smartphones or other fancy gadgets. Looking at them struggling with those devices, you feel frustrated and irritated. However, we should appreciate their bravery to open up about their inability and their ambition to learn something new. We have to help them and wait for them patiently. Remember when they taught you, helped you, and waited for you patiently when you were growing up.
