Scientists are highlighting the urgency of CO2 removal, noting that CO2 levels are at their highest in over 2 million years. While CO2 removal methods are relatively new and unproven, a Scottish startup named UNDO has presented a potential solution. Scotland's stunning volcanic rocks, formed over millennia, might hold the key to addressing the CO2 emission crisis. When CO2 in the atmosphere reacts with water vapor and weathered volcanic rocks, it begins to remove CO2 from the atmosphere. UNDO has developed a method to accelerate this natural rock weathering process, by grinding volcanic rocks like basalts into powder, fine enough to mass or even earn potent brew. Spreading 30000 tons in a full farm could remove 7~8000 tons of CO2. UNDO expects the potential to remove up to 5 gigatons of CO2 annually in the future.
