The U.S. Mathematical Skills Ranked 28th out of 37
The Program for International Student Assessment (PISA) is a global examination for 15-year-old students, taking place every 3 years. This year, the result showed the U.S.'s drop in mathematics, ranking 28th out of 37 countries. But, they proved advanced knowledge in reading and science, which ranked 6th and 12th. The Secretary of Education praised the U.S.’s investment in education but pointed to the need for improvement in math.
Student-Athletes to Get Paid
The President of the National College Athletic Association (NCAA) announced a proposal, allowing college athletes in top Division 1 schools to get paid like employees. He suggested creating sub-divisions that schools could opt into. With his proposal, requiring compensation to half of college athletes, some of them will be able to earn $30,000 per year. This will be on top of the scholarship and even any money from personal NIL deals; name, image, and likeness deals. The President of the NCAA said it would be the kickstart to create permissive and flexible rules.
