After the 118-day-long strike, 160,000 actors reached a tentative agreement with a 3-year contract, ensuring historic pay increases, pay bumps, and improved residuals for streaming. Specific terms have not been disclosed and have to be hashed out and ratified by members of the actors' union. AI is playing a role in this industry by mimicking actors, raising concerns it could replace the actors. The chief negotiator of the union stated actors need protection and the right to control the use as it involves their persona. So, this deal aims at giving consent and compensation when the actors’ likeness is used. Those actors aren’t wealthy; they live paycheck to paycheck. However, an analyst predicts reduced job opportunities in the future as a cost-saving measure.
