SpaceX faced another setback following its initial attempt in April. According to the plan, the biggest and most powerful rocket, Starship, was supposed to reach orbit, complete an orbit around Earth, and then splash down in the Pacific Ocean. However, this liftoff is believed to be a success considering that the launchpad survived, all of the 33 engines fired, it flew far past where the first trial failed in April, and it successfully separated the booster and spacecraft. Sadly, both parts exploded after the separation. Engineers will spend several weeks poring over data to identify the root cause. Despite these consequences, SpaceX views this positively as part of their learning process for improvement. They remain determined to achieve their long-term goal: sending 100 human beings to Mars establishing humanity as a multi-planetary species.
