Veterans Day began with an observance, marking the armistice day of World War I. Jari Villanueva, President of TAPS for Veterans, a non-profit organization providing people with live buglers to military funerals, is dedicated to offering Taps, a bugle call that originated as the lights-out signal and evolved into the farewell anthem for military personnel. In the early 1990s, many bands were downsized, leading to a shortage of buglers and allowing electronic buglers to take precedence over live ones. Jari Villanueva had the impetus that people deserved to have live buglers and set the system whereby families could reach out for live buglers. He believes live bugle call is apt to evoke emotion, and the sound coming through tubing out to families is paramount and preferable over recorded one. He added the bottom line is to honor the veterans for their service in sacrifice to the country.
