Devon Rodriguez is one of the most followed visual artists on social media. Each and every day, he uses the underground in New York City, where he can find different people from a homeless man next to a millionaire to a fully tattooed guy alongside a conservative one. Those are around him all his life so he wanted to present them. But people would not love art and consider it as a niche thing. So, he thought of how to make art enjoyable and digestible. That was why he started drawing themselves. And he found people loved the shock value and wholesome quality of it.
Since 14 when he started painting, he’d never had work or solo exhibit in this gate-kept industry because he grew up on welfare and food stamps. Finally tonight, he’s holding his very first solo exhibit, “Underground.” He’d show his fame hasn't been reached overnight.
