Top Players to Sign for 36th-listed Football League.

The Saudi Pro League is listed as 36th. It hasn’t had historic prestige and status in football. But there’s been a sporting switch to this league. The biggest names in football the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Neymar, Benzema, Ruben Neves, and Roberto Firmino are moving to the Saudi Pro League (SPL). Saudi Officials say they are seeking to diversify its economy away from oil silverware. Clubs in Saudi have been privatized as a government initiative and the four most powerful ones are taken control by the Saudi Sovereign Wealth Fund, known as the Public Investment Fund (PIF). But critics, such as Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International are claiming it’s a sure sign of intent to obscure the poor human rights and anti-LGBTQ+ stance. Moreover, Saudi Arabia is accused of "sportswashing" with the filing that Saudi has the money to sign any football figures if they choose to do so. But, as for Saudi, playing host to the biggest sports event is the best way to put itself on the map.
