A member of Cal Fire, the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, shared a story about the day when he got a fire alert from AI, which the dispatch center didn’t notice. What the AI spotted was a faint column of smoke.
He mentioned that AI cannot replace boots on the ground though, it can give them a leg up.
The AI pilot program went well, prompting Cal Fire to expand it to 21 dispatch centers.
