Earthlings are not meant to breathe on Mars since they are not multi-planetary movers. A recent experiment sprung from NASA brought success. A Perseverance Rover called MOXIE for short, Mars Oxygen In-Situ Resources Utilization Experiment, is built to convert Carbon Dioxide, which primarily makes up the Martian atmosphere, into pure Oxygen. It can produce 122 grams of Oxygen which an average small dog consumes in 10 hours. And NASA confirmed it could convert 12 grams of 98% pure Oxygen in an hour. It’s not too shabby.
But people are doubting this experiment as humanities; could it produce an abundance of Oxygen scaled enough to offer astronauts a breathable atmosphere? and is it worth it while we can make our planet better?
