Blizzard Froze 25 States in 30 Minutes.

Roughly a third of the U.S. population is under the winter weather alert. A Storm system blasted its way through the U.S., affecting 25 states and damaging power lines, trees, homes, and businesses. A quarter million homes and businesses lost electricity. According to the CNN Contributor, 20 inches covered part of Colorado, and a foot of snow coated Illinois and Indiana. Thousands of flights have been canceled due to sleet, snow storms, and ice brought by snow squalls. Snow squalls are a type of snowstorm as intense as blizzards or lake-effect snow. They go hand in hand with Arctic fronts that lead to blinding snow and instantaneous drops in temperature. That’s the reason why they are sure to bring a wintry blast to people, even though they only last less than an hour. Whiteout and low visibility, for example, cause chain reaction pile-ups and block interstates.
