Chat GPT Rattles the Heart of Education.

The potential of AI is raising concerns in the educational sector, with many students facing punishment for using AI in their assignments. Professors have come up with varied solutions from ignoring it to encouraging handwritten work. While some students claim they were falsely accused of it, professors confidently say they’d not fall for it. They don’t have a crystal ball that can distinguish between human-written essays from AI-generated ones, but AI essays exhibit three obvious giveaways. Firstly, they appear suspiciously perfect, resembling the work of a highly competent 12th grader and lacking human nuance. Secondly, they lack a human voice, vibrancy, and seem to be written by a 50-year-old compliance lawyer. Lastly, AI cannot differentiate between factual information and disinformation, mixing up perfect grammar with a false one.
A survey revealed that 51% of college students believe using AI for their assignments and exams is cheating. Administrations are struggling with setting a new ground rule. As plagiarism is spreading, there is a growing debate about whether to ban the use of AI or promote its responsible use.
